Some believe that Engineers should lead the innovation process
and that innovation can be best accomplished through the application of mathematical models and procedures such as TRIZ.
Others believe it is the Marketers that must lead the process through their understanding of consumer dynamics. Still
others believe that it is the creative artist or ideator that must lead the process since true innovation must be new and
unique.
I believe that Innovation is an exploration...we will be going, together, into unchartered territories.
We won't know what we'll ultimately find until we find it! To succeed we'll need all of the skills we can
muster - engineering, mathematics, marketing and creativity.
Sure, it would be nice to have a map of some sort...so we're going to use some
very special insight gathering research and some mathematical modeling as well.
But we are also going to
need the intuitive daring skills of the explorer. So we'll use some very proprietary imagination building tools
and ideation techniques as well.
On December
31, 2009 I celebrated the renewal of my Certification as a Board Certified Consultant in Hypnosis.
This marks over 30 years of Hypnosis Certification. To my knowledge, I am the only Certified Hypnotist to have used
these principles in the corporate world to assist clients in the areas of ideation and imagination.
While I do not actually "hypnotize"
an ideation group, I do apply many of the unique imagination techniques to the group to help obtain results that are truly
unbiased, creative and very much out of the box. So...no, you will not be howling at the moon, nor will you think that
you are an opera star...BUT, you must may be able to better envision what a specific solution to your challenge might look
like in the year 2050!
